The
"Habitats" Directive includes in the annex I a long
list of habitats classified and divided into the six
biogeographical regions: Alpine, Atlantic, Boreal,
Continental, Macaronesian and Mediterranean. All these
habitats testify the biodiversity of the European
territory, which needs to be protected to prevent
the impoverishment of ecosystems and landscape and
to contrast the extinction process of animal and vegetable
species, which live and reproduce there. Some of these
habitats are present in the three SACs concerned with
the "Trebbia" Integrated Project They are described
as follows from a scientific point of view in the
"interpretation manual of the E.U. natural Habitats".
